Ex-Offender Vick = Eagles = Whatever

Aug 14, 2009 / Workforce / Trackback

I’m not a football fan. I’m not against it either, I just don’t care for it. In fact, I’m not a fan of any sport where breakfast is steroids over easy. However, my taste in sports isn’t really what this is about.

His crime, in my opinion, was horrific.  Personally, I’m not a Michael Vick fan. I don’t like him one bit. I am the founder of the first recognized animal protection association in Mexico. I do not support harm to animals or humans in any form – ever. Have you seen the peace sign on my avatar?

What this is about is an ex-offender who has been hired to work. His crime is not relevant to his position. According to juris prudence he has paid his debt to society. His sentence, though very light in my own opinion was not set by me. The NFL obviously doesn’t work like most of corporate America in regard to disqualifying convictions. I also respect the law. Is the man never supposed to work again?

If Vick were a stock clerk in a store he wouldn’t be on the national nightly news. His career is pro football. Whatever…

I encourage you, dear reader, to contribute to the Humane Society of Cozumel, The Human Society of the US, PETA or any animal protection agency. I will love you forever if you do.

He has had multiple earlier offenses for various things. He is a thug and should be banned from football. I bet he'll screw up again within 2 years.

Maybe the NFL needs to implement background checks and have a policy against offenders like many employers do. Thanks for stopping by!

What Michael Vick did was awful. And I agree, the man needs to work again, as do we all. I also think he should still be in prison for his horrific crimes, but he is a celebrity, so of course some rules just don't apply. But I think all of this publicity only helps him; which in my opinion is a bad thing. If any other athlete was traded to a different team, they'd announce it and people would talk a little, but then it would be over. Now, with all of the hype over him joining the Eagles, and over what he did, it just reinforces his behavior. Too many people focus on the negative. We need to be focusing on positive events. And while this is neutral to me, I think everyone just needs to let it be. It is taking up too much space in the paper, on blogs and twitter. We need to read more interesting things! (I'm also not a fan of football! ha)
