It all began with a gift card

I had a Barnes & Noble gift card forever in my purse. There were some books I wanted to purchase; Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Adult Asperger Syndrome (Guides to Indivdualized Evidence Based Treatment Series) and Living Well on the Spectrum: How to Use Your Strengths to Meet the Challenges of Asperger Syndrome/High-Functioning Autism, to help me gain some additional perspective for working young adult students in a work readiness program I manage, but the Amazon.com user experience far surpasses B&N so I decided to use the gift card in the store near my office.

It was serendipitous

Today's December 30. Try as I might to hold on to 2014 because I now suddenly need to hire someone and conjure up some other very important time sensitive magic, all for the second week of the New Year - the universe just isn't interested in my whims, only in its own.

I walked around the smallish B&N college bookstore in downtown Wilkes-Barre with an open mind. Would it be a book, stationery, weird sticky notes, or a book light? No.... It was to be something that would ease my need to hold on, by helping to let go. It was to be a Buddha Board. I no longer have to write things on paper and then burn them in the office garbage can (haha just kidding).

Freud was in my head

The Law of Attraction people might say that what I needed from the universe appeared. I say my subconscious drove me to the game rack because I was looking for a little sumthin sumthin to add to my collection of work tools. Anyway, there it was...

And now I can let the year, people, feelings, thoughts and anything else I can symbolically depict with the rudimentary drawing skills I possess... go. Anytime I want.

Good or bad, how do you let go when it's over?
